About us
Femern A/S is constructing under design and build contracts the 18 km long tunnel between Puttgarden in Germany and Rødbyhavn in Denmark. As project owner, Femern A/S is the company responsible for the planning, construction and operation of the Fehmarnbelt tunnel. Femern A/S is a subsidiary company of the state-owned Sund & Bælt Group, who is also responsible for the Øresund Link and the Great Belt Link.

The Job
You will, alongside the Construction Manager and Contract Director, be responsible for the monitoring of the contractors HSE (health, safety and working environment) of the full contract lifecycle, involving the electro-mechanical (TEM) and railway (TRW) contracts including high & low voltage power supplies, catenary/traction power for railways, tunnel ventilation, controls & automation systems, HVAC, lighting etc.
Together with the construction team, you will be working as a part of the HSE team lead by the Project HSE Manager, where you will act as a Target Zero ambassador, promoting safety culture inside own and Contractor’s organization and contribute in the development and execution of various HSE initiatives and campaigns.
Your key task will be:
- Monitor and document Contractor’s HSE related activities, i.e. safety inspections, meetings, risk workshops, audits, safety inductions, toolbox meetings, kick-off meetings and mobilisations, etc. via active participation in close collaboration with Project HSE Manager and HSE specialists.
- Assist in reviewing Contractor’s method statements for the design and construction tasks and other relevant HSE documentation and monitor that these are implemented and complied with
- Participate in investigation of incidents / accidents / near misses together with the Contractor, securing that the lessons learned are captured and contribute to planning of improvement activities
- Maintain a close collaboration with Contractor’s HSE organisation for handling any HSE issues effectively
- Making sure that the contractors provide documentation of the HSE work
- Facilitating knowledge sharing from e.g. previous contracts and from the facility management operation in Sund & Belt
- Monitor the contractors audits and the HSE work on the construction site
- Analyse HSE trends from the construction site and act proactively to create a healthy and safe working environment
- Participate in authority visits.
Your profile:
You are a dynamic and proactive HSE Specialist with more than 10 years of relevant experience. You have experience within Occupational Health & Safety from other large civil works and infrastructure projects with high complexity with knowledge in multi-disciplined electro-mechanical and railway works.
The ideal candidate will have the following key competencies & qualifications:
- Good knowledge about the Danish health and safety legislation
- Have knowledge about the Danish Working Environment Authority´s regulation on Femern A/S duties regarding health and safety
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate on a professional level.
- Be good at creating interpersonal relations and delivering your messages clearly and unambiguously
- Professional proficiency in English
- Enthusiastic, good team player, self-motivated and pro-active with good attention to detail
- Familiar with Microsoft Office
